Lutterworth 5 Mile Road Race

After a quite a few years off The Lutterworth 5 Mile Road Race was back!

This event was always one that we had on our calendar every year. The venue, the people, the marshals, the organisers and the cause behind it were a perfect blend to create a great day out for runners and spectators. Typically held on a scorching summers day, this year was a break from the norm with thunder and lightening and heavy rain beating down during the build up. Thankfully it turned to a light shower just in time for the race to start. The course is on undulating country roads, minimal traffic and very well marshalled.

Pre-race briefing and warm up drills all happen at Lutterworth Rugby Club. 300+ runners pinning on race numbers and sheltering from the downpour. Every runner who has ran this race or checked the course map knows you need to save something for the hill just before half way and also a very slight uphill last mile.

If you run it right, its a fast race. Our first outing at an event in our club vests.

The support around the course was great, many locals out cheering the runners on despite the rain. The marshals were on top form as always. The finish area was buzzing with excitement as runners crossed the line to collect their medals. There were plenty of goodies at the end for runners and even more inside the Rugby Club afterwards. Professional photographers were also dotted around the race village and along the course. The images were uploaded the same day for free across various social media platforms. This race just has an amazing family feel to it and raises much needed funds for A.D.R.E - Academy for Dementia Research & Education We will definitely be back again next year. Lets see how the runners got on....
